New bachelor's degree program begins at LTCC October 17

The first four-year bachelor's degree program offered on the South Shore begins Monday, October 17 on the campus of Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) and there is still room for students to enroll.

In collaboration with Sierra Nevada College (SNC), LTCC is offering the degree in Global Business Management, the first several four-year degrees the campus plans on offering inside the new Robert and Lisa Maloff University Center which will open in Fall of 2018.

LTCC to host open house about 4-year degree program

Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) and Sierra Nevada College (SNC Tahoe) are co-hosting an Open House on Thursday, June 16 at 5:00 p.m. in LTCC’s Board/Aspen Room to explore offering an undergraduate bachelor’s degree in Global Business Management from LTCC’s South Lake Tahoe campus. The two colleges are seeking community and student input to gauge the level of interest in the program. As the partnership between LTCC and SNC moves forward, it will bring an accredited four-year bachelor’s degree option to LTCC’s South Shore campus for the first time.

Entrepreneurs Assembly

EA at SNC Tahoe working sessions are held on the first Wednesday of every month. Students and community members with business ideas and businesses that need help are welcome to attend. The event is also open to potential mentors.

Each monthly session provides an opportunity for you to set and accomplish new goals in moving your business forward. During the sessions you receive support from experienced mentors and your peers on your business.

SNC Tahoe and other Nevada colleges win grant for STEM and health research

Sierra Nevada College on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe has been awarded a five year grant to develop infrastructure for health-related research and STEM education in the state of Nevada. The National Institutes of Health program grant was given jointly also to the University of Nevada, Reno; UNLV, College of Southern Nevada; Great Basin College; Nevada State College; University of Nevada School of Medicine; Western Nevada College; and Truckee Meadows Community College.

Co-Founder of Elevate Blue to Speak at SNC Tahoe March 30

Jameson Stafford, the co-founder of Elevate Blue, will be the next US Bank Speaker this week, on Wednesday, March 30, from 11:45am-12:45pm in TCES Room 139/14 on the Sierra Nevada College campus in Incline Village. Stafford plans to speak about the variety of paths entrepreneurs can follow, and how his own path has brought him to Lake Tahoe.

Young entrepreneurs win $6,000 in prize money

On Tuesday night at the annual Jalé and Warren Trepp Business Plan Competition, three teams of young entrepreneurs studying at Sierra Nevada College competed for $6,000 in cash prizes.

This event is one of the most exciting celebrations of the academic year at SNC Tahoe. After each team presented twenty-minute oral presentations to a panel of live, external judges and a public audience of more than 100 people, the room waited in anticipation for the announcement of the winners.

Tahoe native receives award for investigative journalism

The Society of Professional Journalists has awarded Jason Paladino, Sierra Nevada College Tahoe graduate and native of Truckee, Cal., their NorCal 2016 James Madison Freedom of Information Student Award for his investigation into the Navy’s Sea Dragon program.

Parents’ Co-op – Handling Difficult Behaviors

Writer in the Woods: Rebecca Makkai

Fiction writer Rebecca Makkai will visit SNC Tahoe February 12 and 13 as part of SNC Tahoe's Writers in the Woods program. This long-standing literary speaker series brings well-known poets and writers from all over the country to the campus for intimate readings and workshops, where audience members can meet and exchange ideas with the guest writers.

Readings are held Friday evenings from 7 – 9pm. They are free and open to the public.

Workshops are held Saturday mornings from 9am – noon. They can be taken for credit and are free to students, $50 for community members

Dan Costa headlines US Bank Speakers Series at SNC Tahoe
