The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation will host the Winter Welcome on Friday, December 9th, 2011 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm at Heavenly’s California Lodge on Saddle Rd. at the top of Ski Run Blvd. Celebrate the coming of Winter in après style, the event will feature heavy gourmet hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction and a beer and wine bar; live music will be played by local musicians Jerel Dutton and JT Chevallier.

Offenbacher talks Tahoe Adventure Film Festival and Flying Wild in Alaska

It has been quite a year for Lake Tahoe's outdoor adventure tribal elder Todd Offenbacher. The film festival founder, Lake Tahoe TV host, mountaineer and unofficial statesmen of all things uniquely outdoors has been to the Arctic Circle, just returned from a trip to Antarctica, and will be featured in two segments on the popular Discovery Channel program Flying Wild in Alaska.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort to open Friday

Kirkwood Mountain Resort announced it will open Friday, Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving, and remain open through the weekend, and then again from Friday, Dec. 2 to Dec. 4. Kirkwood says it will use midweek operations for on mountain preparation, snow making and readying more terrain. The resort hopes to open for full seven-day-a-week winter operations beginning Friday, Dec. 9. The date may change, however, with significant snowfall.

SnowGlobe Festival early bird and advance tickets sell out; 3-day and VIP passes on sale

Who said there's never any good news on Thursdays? The folks over at SnowGlobe Music Festival report that the advance and early bird tickets for the Dec. 29 through New Year's Eve concerts have sold out. But there are plenty of tickets remaining for the regular 3-day and VIP passes, according to the website.

The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation will host the 23rd Annual Ski and Snowboard Swap at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa at South Shore Lake Tahoe Nov. 18-19. Proceeds will benefit the Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides skiing and snowboarding programs and events for regional youth and local middle school and high school students.

The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation has announced two new programs for the 2011 – 2012 winter season under the Freestyle umbrella. The Foundation will offer two Freeride program options, the One-Day Program and the Full-Time Competitive Program. Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation announces 2011-12 programs, scholarship opportunities

The Heavenly Ski and Snowboard Foundation has opened registration for the 2011 – 2012 Alpine, Freestyle, Freeride and Snowboard Programs. With a variety of options from the One-Day Program to the Full-Time Competitive Program, the Lake Tahoe foundation has something for all ages and levels of skiers and riders. Registration packets are available online, at the HSSF building, or by calling the HSSF administration office. Those who register and pay in full now will receive the early registration pricing; prices increase $100 on November 1, 2011.
