Lake Tahoe Adventure Film Festival on Dec. 10 at MontBleu

The 10th annual Tahoe Adventure Film Festival offers gnarly footage as “all-risk” describes the fast paced, high energy series of extreme sports short films that premiere Saturday, Dec. 10 at MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa.
Lake Tahoe, recognized as a breeding ground for elite athletes and year-round adventurers, is designed to capture the intensity and passion of adventure with the film festival a perfect reflection of that outdoor culture.

The spectrum of adventure covered includes wing suit base jumping, skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, rock climbing, skating, mountain biking and other heart pounding sports. Many of the segments are exclusive edits including previews of movies that have not yet been released. The main event commences at 7:30 p.m. showcasing glimpses from the best action sports films of the year.

“This is the night to see the progression in the best action and adventure sports films of the year and learn about new developing sports,” said Todd Offenbacher, founder and event host, world adventurer and host for Outside Television. “It has become the annual gathering of our mountain tribe. It's a celebration of our mountain lifestyle and culture.”

Prior to the show, the dramatic action photography from Aurora Photos, a leading outdoor photo company, flashes on the big screen while “Little Jon Flip,” a midget who does the worm and backflips, go-go dancers and a DJ pump up the crowd, beginning at 6:30 p.m. During intermission a slew of swag and gear from local ski shops along with lift tickets are raffled off. Participation is a major component as the evening as the crowd is hooting and hollering throughout the event.

“The audience can’t help but get amped up about the films, outdoor adventure and getting out of their seat to go outside and explore the wild places around us,” said Corey Rich, contributing photographer/filmmaker.

The action continues after the films with live music from Tahoe’s Hatchett brothers’ metal band Fortress inside Blu nightclub. All after party attendees must be 21 or older.
