A busy Labor Day weekend starts Friday, with a plethora of activities for locals and visitors alike. There are fireworks, music, car shows, runs, boat races, a farm-fork festival and much more to enjoy.

Heavenly Village Days on Labor Day Car Show goes through the weekend with a sidewalk sale, trophies, and a poker run. It costs $40 to show your cars, trucks and motorcycles. Brought to you by Good Samaritans Safe Ride. September 4 - 7, 2015.

Have you ever longed to be on board the MS Dixie II or Tahoe Queen as they race along the waters of Lake Tahoe?

Now is your chance to be an honorary captain during the annual Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race held over the Labor Day Weekend on August 30th.

The two winning captains will be invited on board during the race with three of their friends. They'll all be treated to a lavish buffet and commemorative basket.

The 21st Great Lake Tahoe Sternwheeler Race churns through the lake’s clear blue waters as the South Shores’ two paddlewheelers, California’s Tahoe Queen and Nevada’s M.S. Dixie II, are pitted against each other, Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m.

Brunch is served from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. and then departs from respective marinas to battle. The M.S. Dixie II leads the “battle of the paddle,” series 12-8, which is a four-mile race along the shoreline.

Dixie II, in a four-mile race along the shoreline to determine the coveted Tahoe Cup and lake supremacy, Sept. 3 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The 19th renewal of the spirited “battle of the paddle,” Korbel California Champagne continues a home-grown tradition for annual bragging rights. The M.S. Dixie II holds an 11-7 edge over The Tahoe Queen.
