Tahoe South summer 2012 brings action-packed celebrity golf, headlining comedy, concerts and family events

Heavy-hitting comedy, celebrity golf and blockbuster concerts make for a sizzling summer at Tahoe South with an dynamic lineup that includes legendary actor-comedian Robin Williams; hall-of-fame athletes teeing it up at the American Century Championship and Grammy award-winning pop-rock group, Maroon 5.

Summer season is in full swing as Robin Williams, the comedic superstar and Oscar-winning actor, will make his inaugural sit-down performance at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa. Joined by comedian David Steinberg as opening act, Williams will bring his outrageous antics, musings and spot-on impressions to the MontBleu Theater two nights, July 20-21. It could be the biggest celebrity weekend in memory at Tahoe South with Williams in town during the 23rd annual American Century Championship, the celebrity golf tournament across the street at Edgewood Tahoe. A week of play, action and celebrity sightings, July 17-22, when 80 pro athletes and Hollywood celebrities compete for their share of a $600,000 purse. The list of players includes Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Aaron Rodgers, Tony Romo and Ray Romano. Tickets are available for advance purchase online at www.TahoeSouth.com, www.TahoeCelebrityGolf.com, daily during the tournament at the gate and at 127 Raley's, Nob Hill and Bel Air supermarket locations throughout Northern California and Nevada.

Harveys Outdoor Concert Series, an annual South Shore favorite, features Maroon 5 (sold-out), July 21. Maroon 5 have released three platinum and multi-platinum studio albums (2002’s Songs About Jane; 2007’s It Won’t Be Soon Before Long; and 2010’s Hands All Over), scored a string of hit singles (“This Love,” “She Will Be Loved,” “Harder to Breathe,” “Sunday Morning,” “Makes Me Wonder,” “Misery” and “Moves Like Jagger”), won three Grammy Awards and sold 17 million albums around the world.

The Harveys Outdoor Concert line up continues with Journey, Pat Benatar and Loverboy, July 22; Brad Paisley and the Band Perry, July 28; Toby Keith with special guest Brantley Gilbert, Aug. 8; Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Aug. 9; Norah Jones, Aug. 12; Joe Cocker and Huey Lewis & the News, Aug. 17; Sugarland, Aug. 18; and Sammy Hagar, Sept. 1.

MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa’s inaugural Summer Concert Series brings Sublime with Rome and Cypress Hill, July 26, The Commodores, Aug. 4; All American Rejects, Shiny Toy Guns, Eve 6 and Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy, Aug. 14; Jamaican reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, Aug. 25; Rock, reggae and hip-hop artists Matisyahu/Dirty Heads, Sept. 27.

Classic chrome polished cars, rock n' roll and Lake Tahoe will make for a Hot August Nights to remember, August 3-5 at MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa, the host site for one of the area’s most highly attended summer events.

Meanwhile, power between two-wheels will be celebrated Aug. 23-26 at the inaugural Lake Tahoe Adventure Motorcycle Ride and Rendezvous. Organized by riders who've tracked every part of the Lake Tahoe Basin by road and dirt bike, the Rendezvous is open to all makes of motorcycles and enthusiasts of every stripe. Participants will ride all day through South Lake Tahoe and beyond, then swap stories of their daytime adventures during after-ride cocktail parties and night-time dining options.
