August 11, 2012 - 11:00am Come to the American Cancer Relay for Life; Say hello to our Poster family, Anita Smith and grandchildren, Chase and Jenna. The Relay, to be held at Kahle Park on Aug. 11th from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., is to raise awareness, celebrate Survivors and promote funds for further research.

Nevada Governor Signs Executive Order Creating Interagency Council On Veterans Affairs

Executive Order 2012-15 creates the council to work to identify and prioritize the needs of Nevada’s veterans.

Squaw Valley Hosts an Extraordinary Evening of Poetry

As part of the workshop, the Squaw Valley Community of Writers will be hosting an extraordinary evening of poetry readings on Thursday, June 28, at 8 p.m. in The Olympic Village Lodge at Squaw Valley.
As part of the evening of poetry, Kazim Ali, Robert Hass, Sharon Olds, Claudia Rankine and C.D. Wright will read from their published and unpublished work, including poems written in Squaw Valley just days before.
South Lake Tahoe 4th of July Parade
Submitted by Editor on Tue, 06/12/2012 - 5:02amGolden Bear Events presents the inaugural 4th of July Parade in South Lake Tahoe on Wednesday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to noon down Highway 50.
This event is sponsored by the South Tahoe Chamber of Commerce, KTHO Radio 590 am and 96.1 fm and the City of South Lake Tahoe. Staging will be at Stateline Ave., then proceed down Hwy 50 to Rufus Allen Blvd.
The parade will culminate in the back of the parking lot at the Recreation Complex at 1180 Rufus Allen Blvd. Bring out the family to line the highway and watch or meet at the Recreation Complex for the celebration from noon to 3 p.m.

This is probably the best chance we have to get out of our financial obligation with regards to pensions, healthcare, unsound financial decisions, raising taxes, giving away the keys to the city to every con artist around and quite possibly the clap.

This special edition train ride from Carson City to Virginia City will provide mom with a long stem rose, Wild West history, storytelling, shopping and dining in Virginia City to go along with the spectacular scenery. The train features a 1953 ALCO heritage diesel locomotive leading 100 year-old Pullman coaches displaying the distinctive yellow and green of the V&T.
