As the snow melted every year, the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California, Lake Tahoe’s original and current stewards, would return to the center of their homelands, as much for spiritual fulfillment as sustenance. In fact, travel is intrinsic to human nature. From nomadic hunter-gatherers to people in search of knowledge, new relationships, and escape, getting away is something we have always done.

The much-anticipated Carson-Tahoe Home & Garden Show is just days away, and excitement is building as promoters announce all vendor spots are sold out. This year's show will feature an impressive array of vendors offering everything from home improvement services and products to health and beauty services and products, ensuring there is something for everyone. Admission is free to the public.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Live at Lakeview Summer Music Series begins June 20th with an all-star lineup of Americana music featuring Dead Winter Carpenters & Pickle Barrel. What a way to enjoy the summer solstice in the heart of South Lake Tahoe.

Presented by The City of South Lake Tahoe and Visit Lake Tahoe, Live at Lakeview is a free weekly concert series hosted every Thursday from 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Lakeview Commons. The series runs from June 20 through
August 29th, with no live event scheduled for July 4.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe City Council has restated its commitment to allocate up to 50 percent of the previous year's cannabis revenue to a community benefit grant program.

During their Tuesday meeting, the Council awarded funds to nonprofits that work to mitigate the effects of having legal cannabis sales in the city limits.

Council originally designated $400,000 for this program in the midyear

“Small acts of service and kindness can cause a ripple effect in your life and the community,” said Stefan Watkins, Heavenly’s Manager of Base Operations, and a member of Heavenly’s Adopt A Day of Nourishment crew at Bread & Broth’s Monday Meal on June 10. Adding, “We are thankful to be a part of this amazing cause.”

LAKE TAHOE, Calif./Nev. - Fire restrictions are now in place around the Lake Tahoe Basin and all solid fuel recreational and cooking fires and open burning are banned for the rest of the summer season. Solid fuel includes charcoal and wood. This also applies to parks and beach charcoal grilling areas, although federal and state land campfire restrictions may differ in the areas they operate.

I moved to South Lake Tahoe in 1993 when I was 19 years old. I turned 50 this spring and I'm still stoked to live here 30 years later. I love South Lake, but I'm starting to wonder what it will look like in another 30 years. Our town is changing, shrinking, and losing "the middle", and if you don't see it, or you don't want to do anything about it, I am writing this to you.
