EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - A very important part of the government process, the Civil Grand Jury, is looking for new members. In June 2023, the El Dorado County Civil Grand Jury completed its investigative report of the county's building and planning department. The jury's actions are a result of complaints, concerns, and annual reviews, and the results are compiled in a report that is presented to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. - The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) is scheduled to hold a public meeting to allow members of the public to learn about the Painted Rock Mine Draft Environmental Assessment. The in-person public comment meeting is scheduled to occur on March 20, 2024, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center (1329 Waterloo Lane, Gardnerville, Nevada). The public meeting will include a short presentation, time to converse with subject-matter experts, and time to make a verbal public comment on the content of the revised Environmental Assessment.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church is hosting a free, fun event, "AWESOME EASTER," for all kids in grades TK-6. This event will be held on Sunday, March 17 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

They will be celebrating Easter with crafts, singing, games and munchies.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A South Lake Tahoe business, Mi Pueblo Market on Pioneer Trail, had its California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) license temporarily suspended after selling to a minor decoy. The South Lake Tahoe Police Department, along with agents of the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), conducted a minor decoy operation in November 2023. During that operation, a clerk at the business sold alcohol to a minor decoy.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 15-year-old South Lake Tahoe teen was hospitalized on Saturday after getting pinned between a snowbank and a Jeep Wrangler.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) of South Lake Tahoe is still investigating, but the initial report shows they received a call at approximately 4:26 p.m. on March 2, about multiple vehicles in a collision and an injury on an extremely icy road.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club recently presented Bread & Broth 4 Kids (BB4K) a check for $2,500 for use in feeding local students.

South Lake Tahoe Optimist Club Past President Lee Nichel presented the check to Cheryl Breitwieser, BB4K co-chairperson.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Unity at the Lake, (UATL) a South Lake Tahoe nondenominational spiritual center, is celebrating 30 years of community this year and Rev. Dr. Stew Bittman and Rev. Hillary Bittman have returned to serve as spiritual leaders. The Bittmans have a long history with UATL first serving as the spiritual leaders in 2007.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The public is invited to join the City of South Lake Tahoe housing staff and other community members to share ideas and discuss potential solutions to housing affordability challenges in South Lake Tahoe.

City staff will provide a quick update on current programs and other information.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - All Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) schools will be closed on Tuesday, March 5, due to road conditions and their inability to safely operate buses in certain areas of the district.

LTUSD said they are experiencing challenges in Meyers, Christmas Valley, sections off of Pioneer Trail, Upper Truckee, and portions of Highway 50.

Additionally, many of their staff members have communicated they cannot get to school safely on Tuesday.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 60-year-old man from Berkeley, Calif. suffered major injuries on Sunday after helping the truck in which he was a passenger rolled over him.

On Sunday, March 3 at about 12:22 p.m., a 73-year-old man from Vacaville was attempting to drive his Ford F350 up Mandan Street just north of Apache Avenue. It was snowing, the wind was blowing and the roads were snowy and icy, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The truck couldn't make it up the steep hill and the two passengers got up to help push the truck, along with people from vehicles behind them.

- All Small Claims and Unlawful Detainer matters that are pending in Department 4 will be assigned to Department 12.
- All Domestic Violence and Civil Harassment Restraining Order matters that are pending in Department 4 will be assigned to Department 12.
• All Family Law Law & Motion matters that are pending in Department 4 will be assigned to Department 12.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Students from South Tahoe Middle School (STMS) were recognized by the Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra (SITS) club at their meeting on Thursday. The sixth-eighth graders were the winners of the club's Challenge Day essay and poster contests following the school's Challenge Day program.

After the SITS Club helped sponsor the two-day Challenge Day program, they opened two contests for all students to win a prize purse of $2,000 by writing essays and/or creating posters.

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center (TERC) proudly hosts a lecture about Algae Blooms at Lake Tahoe: TERC, Tech, and You. This special event will feature a panel of TERC experts including Staff Research Associate Brandon Berry, PhD candidate Samantha Sharp, and Education and Outreach Director Heather Segale. The in-person event will be held at Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge in their Emerald Room. Dinners will be 20 percent off for interested guests.
