SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The third area branch of Chase Bank has opened in South Lake Tahoe and they were officially welcomed to the community during a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday.
"Congratulations, thank you to Chase for being a part of the community," said Jason Drew of the Tahoe Chamber. "It is incredible to see you opening and being part of the revitalization."
Drew was joined by Chamber CEO Steve Teshara and a couple dozen of their members and other locals.
"Welcome, this is long overdue," said South Lake Tahoe Mayor Brooke Laine. "Our locals and tourists are in good hands with a local team. We are honored to have you in our community."
The bank is the first business to open in the new Bijou Marketplace at the corner of Ski Run and Lake Tahoe Boulevards at the location of the old Knight's Inn.
Long-time local Hellen Barclay is the branch manager of the new bank and said all of her staff not only work in South Lake Tahoe, but also live in South Lake Tahoe.
"Our goal is to be the community bank," said Barclay and she thanked everyone for attending and for their support.
Chase has a big expansion market plan with branches now in South Lake Tahoe, Truckee, Incline and South Reno with new ones headed to Gardnerville, Sparks and North Reno.
"This year we are aggressively expanding," said Karel Buston, first vice president and market director for the new Sacramento to Reno region. He was in town for the ribbon cutting along with several other members of the bank's management team.
Chase banks give customers different options for doing transactions from normal ATMs to digital tellers inside the branch and traditional teller windows.
The address of the local branch is 3620 Lake Tahoe Blvd., Building C and their phone number is 530.539.9130.
