Pair arrested in South Lake Tahoe when found in car stolen from Pleasanton

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Two men were arrested on Saturday night at the Ski Run Marina on suspicion of driving a stolen automobile.

The Pleasanton, California police called the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) on January 11 to advise them that a car stolen in their town had a tracking device that placed it in South Lake Tahoe.

The car had been warming up in the owner's driveway in Pleasanton about 2:00 p.m. when a person, or persons, stole the car. The police department was able to track the BMW and by 8:00 p.m. it was in South Lake Tahoe. SLTPD arrived at the first tracked location to find the vehicle gone, but followed the trail to the Ski Run Marina were two men were located and arrested.

Currently in the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe are 25-year-old Gabriel Strong and 30-year-old Scott Boyles.

Strong is facing vehicle theft, conspiracy to commit a crime and violation of probation enhancements, all felonies, and carrying $160,000 bail. Boyles is facing felony vehicle theft and conspiracy charges as well as enhancements that have $125,000 bail.

Boyles' identification places him from Livermore, California, a neighboring community of Pleasanton's, and Strong is from South Lake Tahoe.

At this time it isn't known if the men will be transported to Pleasanton/Alameda County to face charges.
