Is Genesis History? showing at Tahoe Community Church

LAKE TAHOE, Nev. - The Del Tackett movie "Is Genesis History?" will be featured dueing a free showing at Tahoe Community Church on Saturday, January 19 at 7:00 p.m.

Is Genesis History? features over a dozen scientists and scholars explaining how the world intersects with the history recorded in Genesis. From rock layers to fossils, from lions to stars, from the Bible to artifacts, this fascinating film will change the way you see the world.

The film’s goal is to provide a reasonable case for Creation in six normal days, a real Adam and Eve, an actual fall, a global flood, and a tower of Babel. Dr. Del Tackett, creator of The Truth Project, serves as your guide—hiking through canyons, climbing up mountains, and diving below the sea—in an exploration of two competing views … one compelling truth.

This big screen box office block buster movie set opening day records on its release two years ago. It’s documentary approach alternates between interviews of authorities on ancient scriptures and experts in the field pointing to field evidence not typically shown in public school textbooks, state parks, or museums today.

If Noah’s flood covered all the highest hills, drowning all land dwelling life, shouldn’t the fossil record reflect a catastrophic event associated with rapid plant and animal burial in sedimentary (formerly mud) rocks? Do museums focus our attention on the fossil or the mud/rock formation from when displays of dinosaurs are shown? Could this biblical event explain the extinction of the dinosaurs? Can this be seen in our region? Would such drownings and re-emergence of the land explain why the driest state’s fossil park is a pile of giant fish left in an inland basin as the flood waters receded off the continent?

A question and answer session will follow the movie and a 9:00 a.m. adult Sunday school class the following week will investigate the relevance of Genesis topics in modern American culture.
