Nora Mayland Kerr was born to Stateline NV. residents Dylan and Blair Kerr. Nora weighed six pounds 11 ounces at birth, measured 19 inches long, and was delivered by Dr. Clare Rudolph. Nora’s middle name is a long standing family name from her grandfather. Nora has one sibling, ten-year old sister, Emily.

Submitted by paula on Fri, 12/18/2020 - 4:12pmDel Laine has left her mark on South Lake Tahoe in ways that many local residents might not know. She was a mover and shaker, whose focus was on making the city a better place. Her most important role, though, was promoting the well-being of women.
This pioneer died Dec. 18, 2020, at home from natural causes, with family at her side. She was 90.
She was born Dolores Mae Wright on March 20, 1930, in Oakland, Calif., to Mabel Paulson and Leslie Wright.

Douglas County confirms positive COVID-19 exposure at election polls

Douglas County has worked closely with Carson City Health and Human Services on contact tracing related to the positive case. Individuals who are considered close contacts to the positive case have already been notified regarding their need to isolate or quarantine.

The club has saved a portion of its fundraising proceeds for over a decade while searching for a major project which suits its mission to empower women and youth. The result of that search broke ground Wednesday - the renovation of the softball field at the South Tahoe Middle School. The socially distant ceremony was held with club members and partners in their endeavor.

Though taken far too soon, Sloan managed to live 10 lives in the span of his 47 years, punctuated by adventure, mischief, and quality time with his family and friends.

John is preceded in death by his parents: father John Russell Rice Sr. of Fremont, Calif.; mother Elizabeth LaVerne Rice-Killion of South Lake Tahoe, Calif.; and his grandson Mason Allen Geist of Gardnerville, NV.

Marlin Joseph "Hersh" Herschman ~ 1943 - 2019

Born Marlin Joseph Herschman on Jan. 12, 1943, in St. Ignatius, Montana, he would always be best known as Hersh or The Hersh Man. He died Aug. 7, 2019, at The Chateau at Gardnerville in Nevada of inoperable brain cancer. His wife, Sheryl, and best friend for more than 40 years Greg Painter were with him. He was 76.
After graduating from St. Ignatius High School in Montana in 1961, Hersh joined the U.S. Army for two years. He spent two summers at West Point.

It's Marathon Week in Lake Tahoe; Expect road closure October 14

Celebrate National Trails Day, the nation’s largest gathering of trails by volunteering cleaning up the South Shore. Volunteers are needed to help remove graffiti off of massive granite boulders and remove garbage on a trail connector into Van Sickle Bi-State Park.

Lanes closures and power outages over next two weeks as work wraps up in Stateline
Submitted by paula on Fri, 05/04/2018 - 10:54pmNV Energy is in the final stages of work on the underground electrical vault damaged in an April 1 explosion on Highway 50 at Stateline. They expect work will be completed by May 17.
Both westbound lanes will have to be closed starting Monday, May 7 as work continues underground. One of those lanes will reopen on Friday, May 11.Detours will be marked.
Eastbound lanes will remain open throughout the course of work. During this time, NV Energy will be installing equipment specific to the site.

Public has opportunity to comment on new Lake Tahoe Shoreline Plan

Stakeholders have been working collaboratively in developing solutions to both manage natural resources while improving access to the lake for recreational purposes.
The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, (TRPA) is asking for public comment as they go through the process of preparing a draft environmental impact statement for the proposed Lake Tahoe Shoreline Plan.

Law enforcement prepares for thousands of revelers at Stateline

Though Highway 50 through Stateline hasn't had to close until just before midnight the past two years, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is prepared to close it to vehicle traffic in the evening if necessary for public safety. If that should occur, vehicle traffic will be diverted around the Stateline casino core area using upper and lower Lake Parkway Drive.
Douglas County to hold public meetings to discuss stormwater issues

A presentation will be given at each meeting and will include recommendations from the Citizen’s Flood Task Force, examples of how a stormwater management program could work, and staff will be collecting public input.
Sugar Pine seedlings need human help with watering due to lack of rain

SOS Outreach Camp students recently helped water the seedlings in the Gondola Fire Area in South Lake Tahoe, and more watering trips are planned.

The proposal to install a 60-foot-long tunnel extension at Cave Rock this summer is the subject of a public hearing by the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency on March 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
The agency's hearings officer will meet with all interested parties, public included, on the Nevada Department of Transportation's project to create a safer tunnel due to the falling rock and deteriorating hillside on the westbound lanes of Highway 50 entering the tunnel.

Dr. Stoll, an icon of the Tahoe area, practiced dentistry for over 50 years in both South Lake Tahoe and Minden.
