Fire at South Lake Tahoe home had marijuana grow operation

South Lake Tahoe Fire Department responded early Sunday morning to a house fire at Carson and Armstrong avenues where there was a marijuana grow operation.
According to a news release, all three South Tahoe Fire engines and both medic units were committed at the fire scene, reported at 12:30 a.m. The fire was knocked down quickly so both primary and secondary searches were completed with no victims found and overhaul began.

This house had an active small scale marijuana grow operation. The preliminary investigation showed multiple wiring modifications to power grow lights and fans. The burn patterns showed the source of the fire being near an electrical junction box. The investigation will be ongoing with South Lake Tahoe fire investigators checking the scene.
