Event Date:
January 30, 2015 - 1:00pm
In an effort to better serve the homeless youth under the age of 24 in the South Lake Tahoe community, Tahoe Youth and Family Services is having a free BBQ and annual Homeless County.
To get the funding necessary to the South Shore, TYFS staff will be gathering important demographic information at the BBQ so they can get an accurate count of the local homeless population. This count is required for El Dorado County to receive federal housing and shelter funds. If the numbers are low and inaccurate, then the funding will not be made available as it would be determined South Lake Tahoe has no homeless population.
All couch surfing, homeless, runaway youth as well as those living on their own are invited to the event which will be at the Tahoe Youth and Family Services' office at 1021 Fremont Avenue from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. This is being sponsored by the El Dorado County Continuum of Care.
The El Dorado County Continuum of Care is a community plan to organize and deliver housing and services to meet the specific needs of people who are homeless as they move to stable housing and maximum self-sufficiency. It includes action steps to end homelessness and prevent a return to homelessness.
If there are any questions, call Cheyanne at TYFS: 530-541-2445, ext 112.
