South Lake Tahoe police arrest parolee after multiple attempts to escape; Search on for second man

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 25-year-old South Lake Tahoe man has been arrested on multiple charges after he tried to escape police custody twice on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. Christopher Hendrickson has been arrested on charges of resisting arrest, escape from custody, corporal injury to his spouse, willful cruelty to a child, forcible entry into a property and felony vandalism.

South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) received a report of a domestic violence incident on January 28, 2020. The victim, a 33-year-old woman, reported Hendrickson, her husband, had punched her in the face while in a verbal argument and threatened to kill her.

SLTPD later located and arrested Hendrickson without incident for felony threats and violating the terms of his parole. According to SLTPD, Hendrickson is currently on parole and has a history of weapons charges, battery causing traumatic injury and threatening law enforcement. He was released from custody on January 30 on his own recognizance after his arraignment.

On February 3, the original victim contacted SLTPD and reported that Hendrickson battered her again. When officers attempted to contact the suspect, he fled and was able to escape.

The investigation continued till approximately 9:00 a.m. on February 4 when officers located the suspect at the Lake Tahoe Inn, 3520 Lake Tahoe Blvd. When officers made contact, Hendrickson and another male, later identified as Teofilo Uribe, fled the hotel room. Hendrickson allegedly forced his way into the lobby and rear residence where the manager and his family live at the Beverly Lodge, located at 3480 Lake Tahoe Blvd. Hendrickson was apprehended by SLTPD officers who deployed a Tazer.

Uribe was able to escape.

During Hendrickson’s arrest, he sustained minor injuries from the application of a Tazer device and per SLTPD protocol, he was transported to Barton Hospital for treatment. When being transferred back to a patrol car, Hendrickson was able to escape custody and fled through the nearby neighborhood.

With the assistance of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s office, Hendrickson was re-captured and booked into the El Dorado County Jail. His bail is currently set at $87,000.

Teofilo Uribe, a 32-year-old South Lake Tahoe resident, has a long history with the police department including kidnapping, drugs, theft and weapons violations according to SLTPD Lt. Shannon Laney. Uribe currently has three outstanding warrants for his arrest that includes possession of a firearm by a felon. Uribe’s whereabouts are unknown at this time.
