South Lake Tahoe man arrested after leading police on pursuit

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 26-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly leading officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) on a pursuit through the Ski Run neighborhood.

At approximately 10:45 p.m., an SLTPD sergeant noticed the driver of a small motorcycle fail to stop at a stop sign at Spruce Avenue and Ski Run Boulevard. The motorcycle was also without a license plate attached, according to reports.

The sergeant attempted to conduct an enforcement stop on the motorcycle, but instead of stopping the driver took off and a pursuit began through the Ski Run neighborhood. During the pursuit, the motorcycle struck the police vehicle and eventually crashed at Tamarack Avenue and Blackwood Avenue, police say.

The driver fled on foot through the marshy area and was eventually captured by officers in the 3600 block of Vanda Lee Road.

The driver was identified as South Lake Tahoe resident Dylan Puleri. Puleri has had numerous contacts with law enforcement according to SLTPD Lt. Shannon Laney.

At the time of arrest, Puleri allegedly was in possession of a handgun that did not have a serial number, a high compacity magazine, latex gloves, and a lock pick set. It was also determined that Puleri was under the influence of alcohol while operating his motorcycle. During the pursuit, the unidentified sergeant sustained minor injuries. Puleri was uninjured, police said.

Puleri was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on misdemeanor and felony charges of possession of a lock pick device, possession of a high compacity magazine, carrying a loaded firearm, carrying a concealed firearm on his person, evading a peace officer, DUI, and driving the wrong way on a roadway while evading a peace officer. At this time Puleri is in the El Dorado County Jail in South Lake Tahoe. Bail is currently set at $110,000.
