Leap Year day at Diamond Peak

Diamond Peak Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe is celebrating 2012’s extra day on February 29th by offering a $29 all day lift ticket.

“There are obviously lots of things people can do with an extra day on their hands” says Brad Wilson, general manager of Diamond Peak. “Skiing and snowboarding seems a more fun choice than some of the alternatives like washing the car, doing laundry or cleaning out the garage.”

“Diamond Peak has some of the best snow conditions in Lake Tahoe right now with 28 open runs and top to bottom skiing and riding for all abilities and we want to give people a fun reason to visit and save some money at the same time”, he said.

Feb. 29 is a date that occurs every four years, and is called Leap Day. This day is added to the calendar in leap years as a corrective measure, because the earth does not orbit around the sun in precisely 365 days. Those born on Feb. 29 are called “leaplets” or “leapers”. If you’re a leaplet you ski free at Diamond Peak on Feb. 29. Diamond Peak offers free skiing to everyone on their birthday and the leaplets' turn is coming.

The $29 Leap Day ticket is valid Feb. 29 only and will be available at all Diamond Peak ticket windows. Diamond Peak is open daily from 9 to 4 p.m.

Diamond Peak Ski Resort is in Incline Village, Nev., on the scenic north shore of Lake Tahoe, offering amazing views of the lake. Kids and beginners love it. There is an 1840-foot vertical drop offering beginner to advanced terrain. Connect with Diamond Peak on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube, visit www.diamondpeak.com or call (775) 832-1177.
