South Lake Tahoe man injured after being hit by car Tuesday night

A 52-year-old man from South Lake Tahoe was hit by a car after attempting to cross Highway 50 near the intersection with Heavenly Village Way on Tuesday, February 9. The unidentified man was not in a crosswalk and was crossing the street when traffic had a green light.

A 69-year-old Carson City man had just passed through the intersection when he struck the pedestrian.

The South Lake Tahoe Police and Fire departments both responded after getting a 911 call of a pedestrian versus vehicle accident at 8:26 p.m.

According to Lt. David Stevenson of SLTPD, their investigation shows the Carson City man was traveling eastbound in the #1 lane going approximately 25 mph. He did not see the pedestrian.

The South Lake Tahoe man received unknown injuries and was transported to the hospital. His condition is unknown at this time.

The pedestrian had been drinking according to the investigation.

No citations were issued to the driver.
