City Council agenda for Tuesday

Event Date:
February 17, 2015 - 9:00am

Tuesday's City Council meeting will cover a range of subjects, from commission appointments to a look at the Vacation Home Rental Policy.

At the January 20 City Council meeting, appointments were made to all boards but three spots remained opened. One should be filled at this week's meeting as there was one applicant for the Airport Land Use Commission opening. Scott Michal applied and will be appointed if Council believes he meets the qualifications.

The two open spots on the Building/ADA Board of Appeals is a different story. Both openings had to be filled by residents who are physically handicapped. At the application deadline date of February 11, nobody had applied.

Cal Trans will make a presentation on replacing the Echo Summit bridge. This is an informational presentation only.

The Council will also hear reports from staff concerning the proposed fees with a commercial stormwater ordinance. This is the second reading of the proposal and they would vote on it during the March 3 meeting.

Budget cuts in 2011 took away the Fire Marshall position and since that time
some businesses have neglected to maintain basic safety items such as working fire extinguishers, working smoke detectors, fire sprinkler maintenance and fire extinguisher systems over restaurant cooking appliances, creating unsafe conditions for the public. Staff will recommend the addition of a new fire inspector position.

Wrapping up the open session of City Council's February 17 meeting will be a workshop on the City's Vacation Home Rental Program with the possibility of direction or action being taken.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the Council Chambers located at the airport.
