Two Lake Tahoe locals featured on Women Who Dare

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - One year ago, South Tahoe Now carried the story of Kerry Gross, a local woman who was setting off on a bike ride across the country as part of her "Women Who Dare" project.

The Women Who Dare podcast, to be released on March 6, follows Gross on her five-month bike ride where she met inspirational women who had a story to tell. She spent the summer of 2017 riding 5,800 miles to meet and interview remarkable women.

Starting March 6, weekly episodes will retell the story of this trip and features more than twenty interviews with noteworthy women.

Two such notable women are Brandi Brown, founder and owner of Tahoe Production House, and Megan Michelson, freelance writer and co-founder of the Tahoe Mills co-working space. Kerry interviewed both women in Tahoe just before departing on her cross-country ride. Brandi and Kerry talked about founding a business as a young woman, breaking into the film industry, and deciding to make Tahoe home. Megan talked with Kerry about her journey into journalism and how to honor a subject while still telling a compelling story. Both interviews will be released along with the first episode on March 6th.

Sparked by the founding story of Clif Bar, the Women Who Dare project was created by Kerry Gross as a way to tell the stories of courageous women. As an avid adventurer surrounded by mostly male counterparts, Kerry often wondered, "Where are all the other women?" In response to this question, and with the knowledge that stories of women's strength, intelligence, and perseverance frequently go untold, Kerry developed the Women Who Dare project.

"Women across the country are inspiring others in so many ways," Kerry says. "It's been my honor to talk with more than twenty of these women. I'm so excited to finally be able to share their stories with the world."

Kerry spent last winter seeking recommendations of women to include in the Women Who Dare project. Then, she used these recommendations to plan a route from San Francisco, CA to Camden, ME. From April to September, Kerry biked 5,800 miles (and used Amtrak to cover another 1,600 miles) to meet and interview more than 20 women recomended for their inspiration and daring.

Episodes of Women Who Dare will be released weekly, starting Mach 6, 2018. Each week's release will include an episode retelling a portion of the bike journey and as many interviews as were recorded during those travels.
