Snowy Sunday and Monday in Lake Tahoe, then relief from snow and rain in sight

Another storm moves through the area Sunday and a Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for 7:00 p.m. Sunday to 7:00 a.m. Monday.

Travel is idea through the Sierra Saturday and Sunday until 3:00 p.m. The National Weather Service in Reno says there will be some light snow showers on Saturday with only light accumulations expected. Another period of light to moderate snow showers is expected Sunday afternoon into Monday morning. This storm is weaker than previous systems we have had and will be measured in inches rather than feet. Although it will be enough snow to create travel headaches. Heaviest snow, slowest travel expected Sunday evening so plan accordingly.

Snow accumulations of 2"-6" can be expected with some areas at lake level seeing up to 8". There will be gusty winds that will cause blowing snow.

On Sunday, it will be breezy, with a southwest wind 10 to 15 mph increasing to 20 to 25 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

It looks like March will be "in like a lamb" with no rain or snow in the forecast, just sunny skies!
