New storms bringing more snow to South Lake Tahoe

Spring in the Sierra is always a myriad of weather, and the seven-day forecast has a little bit of something for everyone.

If you would like a little more of the cold stuff, a winter weather advisory is in effect from 7:00 a.m. Friday to 4:00 a.m. Saturday. Snow will spread into the Tahoe Basin Friday morning with intense snowfall in the afternoon and evening.

If you like snow: 10 to 18 inches above 7000 feet with up to 6 inches elsewhere. Heaviest snow along and west of Highway 89. Lake level snow in the morning moves up to 6500 feet during the day before falling back to lake level Friday evening.

If you like wind: Winds will be from the Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph. Wave heights on the lake will be 1 to 4 feet with highest waves from midlake to the north and east shores.

Still like more snow? On Sunday there is a chance of rain and snow showers after 11:00 am. with new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible during the day. Sunday night, new snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible at lake level.

Like it sunny and warm? Wednesday! The forecast is for sunny skies and a high of 56.

Saturday - A 30 percent chance of snow showers before 11am. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. West wind 5 to 10 mph. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Saturday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday - A chance of rain and snow showers after 11am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
