The body of a middle-aged man was found in South Lake Tahoe Sunday morning.

Officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD) responded to a call of a man down in the street at 6:42 a.m. on February 25, 2018. Patrol officers arrived and found a deceased man near the sidewalk in front of Enchanted Florist at the Y.

The death doesn't appear suspicious at this time according to SLTPD Detective Justin Brock. He said the man was not hit by a car but cause of death will be determined by the El Dorado County Sheriff's Coroner.

Identity of the man will not be released until next of kin can be notified. SLTPD did say the deceased was known to the department.

While investigating and taking photos, Det. Brock put down his notebook on the sidewalk. A man exiting Goodwill walked to the scene, picked it up and left the with Brock's notes. He said they will be following up on that as well.

This is a developing story.
