Election update: Some El Dorado County ballots can still be changed

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. - With three candidates dropping out of the presidential race just before Super Tuesday, many wonder what happens to their vote if it were for Styer, Buttigieg or Klobuchar.

If a ballot was mailed in and counted, whomever one voted for must remain the same.

If one still has their ballot for El Dorado County and hasn't dropped in a special dropbox, the mail or at a Voting Center, it can be changed. Just put a line through the previous vote and remark with the new vote. Make it clear who the new vote is for and the elections staff will look at it to determine the intent of the voter.

If it was mailed in but the El Dorado County Election's Office has not received the ballot yet, they can attempt to void it. Call them at 530.621.7480 right away as there are thousands of ballots in their office to be counted.

The County has utilized their new Vote Centers and there are two open in the South Lake Tahoe area through Tuesday. Ballots can be taken to Lake Tahoe Community College or the Lake Tahoe Airport until 4:30 p.m. Monday or from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Election Day. There are also official drop boxes:

Grocery Outlet - 2358 Lake Tahoe Blvd 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
Holiday Market - 2977 US Highway 50 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Election Day.
South Lake Tahoe Library - 1000 Rufus Allen Blvd - 24 Hours except on Election Day when it closes at 8:00 p.m.

The Election's department says the Voting Centers have been successful and well-utilized.
