South Lake Tahoe forecast: Chance of rain and snow

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Intermittent Sierra showers will continue through Monday before another storm swings up from southern California with increased chances for precipitation south of Highway 50 for Tuesday and Wednesday. More mild and sunny conditions will return for the last half of the work week before another storm approaches for the weekend according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno.

The NWS Reno weekly forecast for South Lake Tahoe:

Monday - A 20 percent chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 47. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm.

Tuesday - A slight chance of rain and snow between 11am and 2pm, then a slight chance of rain after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 50. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Tuesday Night - A slight chance of rain and snow after 11pm. Snow level 7400 feet lowering to 6800 feet after midnight . Partly cloudy, with a low around 25. East wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday - A chance of rain and snow before 11am, then a chance of rain. Snow level 6400 feet rising to 7600 feet in the afternoon. Partly sunny, with a high near 53. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. Chance of precipitation is 40%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
