Change for South Lake Tahoe in week ahead: Sun, Rain, Snow

Mother Nature has decided the Lake Tahoe Basin isn't done with winter, yet. Monday, March 20 is the first day of Spring, and in true Tahoe fashion, rain is in the forecast.

A fast moving shortwave will move through the Pacific Northwest Wednesday, bringing wind and a chance of rain to Lake Tahoe. Three small weather systems are lined up to pass over the Sierra Nevada.

Here is the forecast from the National Weather Service:

Tonight - Isolated showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Southwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday - A 20 percent chance of showers before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 55. Southwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Thursday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 32. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Friday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 61. Southwest wind around 5 mph.

Friday Night - Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Saturday - A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53.

Saturday Night - A 20 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Sunday - A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 52.

Sunday Night- Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33.

Monday - A slight chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 54.
