Teen killed in Fernley head on collision

A 19-year old Silver Springs teen was killed Sunday after the car she was driving was hit by another near Fernley High School.

At approximately 12:05 p.m., Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers were called to the scene of a two vehicle head-on collision that occurred on US50 Alternate near Lyon County mile marker 11.

Investigations show that a black 2008 Saturn sedan driven by 27-year-old Megan Constance Amirr of Fernley was traveling southbound on US50A when, for unknown reasons, her car crossed over the center line where it struck a white 1988 Mercedes-Benz sedan traveling northbound. The Mercedes was driven by 19-year-old Isis Aline Fetty of Silver Springs. She had two passengers, 40-year-old Allyson Marie F. Tansler and a 12 year old female, both residents of Silver Springs. Amirr had no passengers.

Fetty was pronounced deceased at the scene. Tansler was transported to Renown Regional Medical Center by Central Lyon County ambulance with serious non-threatening injuries. The minor female was treated for minor injuries and released at the scene. All occupants of the Mercedes were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Amirr was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. She was transported to Renown with non-life threatening injuries by the Central Lyon County ambulance.

This area of US50A has one lane in each direction and the speed limit is 65 mph. The possibility of a controlled substance is being investigated as a factor in the cause of this accident. Charges are pending.
