SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - After a dozen years as a trustee on the Lake Tahoe Unified School District Board of Education, Barbara Bannar has resigned. To fill her spot as the trustee from Area 5 (pictured above), applications are being accepted until May 15, 2020.
Bannar, the current board clerk, has been board president for many of those years and will leave a void with her departure. She was the most senior member among the other four elected trustees. Board President Larry Reilly is up for reelection in November as are trustees Bonnie Turnbull and Troy Matthews. The other trustee, Brandi Bannister, has a term than runs through 2022.
Her first term was from 2003-2007 and then again from 2012 to the present. She represented much of the Meyers area and Bannar's replacement will finish her term which ends on December 9, 2022.
The 25-year-resident of the South Shore could not be reached for comment. Her resignation was official on March 31, 2020.
Applications for the open position will be accepted until May 15 at 5:00 p.m. with interviews scheduled for May 26.
