State Route 108 over Sonora Pass has opened in time for the opening of trout fishing season in the Eastern Sierra on Saturday, April 25 according to Caltrans.
Also opening is State Route 120 (west) Mono County - Tioga Pass Road, to the East Yosemite Park Entrance Gate. State Route 120 is closed beyond this point. Users can access State Route 120 for recreational activities from the junction of US 395 at Lee Vining up to the park entrance closure gate.
State Route 168 (west) Inyo County – Access to Sabrina Lake is also now open.
Due to lack of snow the following passes did not close this winter, although closed during one storm event and reopened shortly after:
• State Route 270 Bodie Road – Mono County – Access to Bodie State Historic Park
• State Route 89 (Monitor Pass)
• State Route 120 (east)
• State Route 158 – North end of June Lake loop
Caltrans crews responsible for the road opening extend their best wishes for safe summer traveling to those who enjoy the recreational opportunities this part of California has to offer.
