Tahoe Youth & Family Services teams up with Blue Angel Cafe Thursday

Event Date:
April 23, 2015 - 5:00pm

Tahoe Youth & Family Services (TYFS) is planning a celebration for the community in honor of the nationwide "Give Where You Live" day.

Most likely you've heard about the National Day of Giving coming up on Thursday, April 23. But what is it? Hundreds of community foundations across the country have joined in a 24-hour giving challenge through a national campaign called the National Day of Giving. Named "Give Where You Live," and designed exclusively for our own community, this virtual event showcases El Dorado County nonprofits and gives you the opportunity to support them by funding specific needs.

TYFS is taking the day of giving one step further on Thursday by having community members stop by the Blue Angel Cafe's loft from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. to enjoy live music by local bad, Taking Root. They will also be selling raffle tickets for $10. The popular restaurant is located at 1132 Ski Run Blvd.

Raffle prizes include a Fremont Avenue Experience, Azul Latin Kitchen certificate, Aces baseball game tickets and a Shakespeare at Sand Harbor package. Since the agency is located in the Fremont Avenue area, their neighboring businesses donated to the raffle: Freshies, Sessions, Inn By The Lake, MacDuffs Public House, Tahoe Bowl and Aloha Ice Cream.

Donations to the agency can also be dropped off between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at their office and drop-in center at 1021 Fremont Ave. in South Lake Tahoe.

Tahoe Youth & Family Services provides safety-net and support services in the Tahoe region for the last 44 years. The organization’s programs extend to four key areas: Substance abuse counseling, individual and family therapy, supportive services for runaway and homeless youth, and a youth mentoring program.
