Annual Genoa Cowboy Festival April 28-May 1

Event Date:
April 28, 2016 (All day)

The Genoa Cowboy Festival, an annual celebration of the ranching and rural West in the Carson Valley, returns to the historic town April 28 to May 1.

From its 19th century beginnings, cowboys and ranching have shared work, words and music here, and expect more of the same at this year's festival. Celebrate the unique forms of cowboy poetry, western music and the western lifestyle. Genoa is the site of the first ranch in Nevada and still has working cattle ranches literally steps from the downtown. If you are new to the festival, one thing you will certainly appreciate is that, with the exception of the Dangberg Home Ranch, all of the venues are located within easy walking distance downtown.

Parking is free; and so are all of the daytime performances.

The Festival kicks off Thursday evening with a BBQ and Barn Dance at Trimmer’s Outpost and with the Heritage Club reception, dinner and special concert. Listen to musical performances, cowboy poetry, Chautauqua presentations and up-and-coming talent all day long both Friday and Saturday for free. Stick around for the ticketed evening concerts featuring Wylie & The Wild West, The Legend – Ian Tyson, Andy Hedges, Larry Maurice and Mike Beck. The Friday and Saturday evening Main Stage concerts reunite festival favorites with new performers to make your
evening a grand experience.
