Genoa Cowboy Festival embodies Western Spirit

Event Date:
April 28, 2016 (All day)

The Town of Genoa, Nevada, announced today that the seventh annual Genoa Cowboy Festival will take place in their town from April 28 through May 1. Previous Cowboy Festivals have attracted thousands of visitors to the picturesque community which is recognized as Nevada’s oldest town, just minutes from South Lake Tahoe.

This year’s event will feature performances by some of the best-known entertainers in Western music and cowboy poetry, including Ian Tyson, Wylie & and Wild West, Mike Beck, Richard Elloyan, Trinity Seely, Andy Hedges, Larry Maurice, and many more.

Other festival events include: Chautauqua performances; a birding nature walk at the River Fork Ranch; a “Birds and Buckaroos in the Carson Valley” photography show at The Nature Conservancy’s Whit Hall Interpretive Center; and a festival tour special at the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park throughout the weekend.

The Genoa Cowboy Festival is a blend of beautiful setting, entertainment, heritage and Western culture. Most of the festival is free to the public and also features cowboy mercantile crafts and clothing, Western art-exhibits, pioneer and Old West living history reenactors, and a variety of delicious food from popular local eateries (there is a cost for concerts).

From its 19th century beginnings, cowboys and ranching have shared work, words and music in this historic community. The Town of Genoa celebrates that rich history and tradition with its annual celebration of the Western lifestyle.
