One injured in possible honey oil lab explosion in South Lake Tahoe

6:00 p.m. 4/25/16 Update: There are no new details in Sunday's explosion at a home in South Lake Tahoe. The South Lake El Dorado Narcotics Enforcement Team (SLEDNET) has taken over the case and it is still under investigation.

There have been no arrests at this point.

A possible honey oil lab inside the garage of a South Lake Tahoe home exploded on Sunday evening, sending one to the hospital.

At 5:48 p.m. on April 24, 2016, personnel from the South Lake Tahoe Fire and Police Departments responded to the call of an explosion at a home on the corner of Plum Street and Bruce Drive.

One man at the home who suffered injuries and was transported to the hospital. Two dogs in the home were uninjured.

According to South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. Travis Cabral, it appears the explosion was butane-fueled, most likely due to a honey oil lab. Firefighters at the scene were waiting for the clearance to enter the garage and home. There was visible structure damage and the contents of the garage were undetermined.

Cabral said they know of just one person being at home at the time of the explosion, but the investigation is underway.
