7:50 p.m. update - Caltrans crews have moved the tree over to get traffic moving again. It is now open.

State Route 89 around Emerald Bay is currently closed after a tree fell onto the road way about one-half mile south of Eagle Falls overlooking Vikingsholm.
Caltrans and the CHP have closed the road to clear the tree which fell at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Monday, April 24.
The photos in the story are from South Lake Tahoe local Pat Baginski who was headed back to the south shore. Unfortunately, he was on the wrong side of the tree and will have to go around the east shore to get home.
Estimated time of reopening is currently after 11:00 p.m. Monday night.
