Lake Tahoe, Sierra and El Dorado County roadwork July 26 - August 1

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The following is a list of the long term and short term projects the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled for the week around Lake Tahoe, in the Sierra and El Dorado County.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues an $11.5 million project to replace the U.S. Highway 50 Sawmill (Ridgeway Drive) Undercrossing in Pollock Pines to address the aging bridge deck, improve sight distance, bring the bridge railings up to current design standards and make local road improvements to Ridgeway Drive. The project also includes adding overhead lights to the Sly Park Road on- and off-ramps. Completion is expected by June 2021. Highway 50 is reduced to one lane in each direction through the construction zone.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work has been postponed until late summer on a $14.1 million project to replace the Echo Summit Sidehill Viaduct, located 7 miles west of South Lake Tahoe. This project is replacing the current bridge, built in 1939, with a new structure to meet current design and safety standards. Completion is expected by this fall. State Route 193 (El Dorado County): Work is complete on a $6.1 million project to build retaining walls at two locations and to install metal beam guardrail between Shoo Fly Road and Chili Bar.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County): Work is set to start on a $3.1 million project to perform pavement repairs and an asphalt overlay on a 5.5-mile section of State Route 193 between Garden Valley Road and the South Fork American River (Chili Bar). Completion is expected in September.
- - - July 27-31 - State Route 193 (El Dorado County) between Garden Valley Road and the South Fork American River (Chili Bar): Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for pavement repair work.

State Route 49 (Placer County) from the I-80/SR 49 interchange to Dry Creek Road: Construction began June 17, 2019 on a $42.4 million project in Auburn. The project will rehabilitate existing pavement and drainage, improve operational features and upgrade pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
- - - July 26 – July 31 - State Route 49 (Placer County) from the Interstate 80 junction to Dry Creek Road: Motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for electrical work, roadway excavation, and curb and sidewalk work.

State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Woodridge Drive to Linton Lane: Construction is beginning July 27 on a $3.8 million safety improvement project on State Route 49 near Wolf Road and Combie Road. Caltrans is constructing a northbound and southbound acceleration lane and adding other safety and operational improvement elements. Work will primarily be performed along shoulders behind concrete barriers, with minimal impacts to traffic.
- - - July 27 – July 28 - State Route 49 (Nevada County) from Woodridge Drive to Linton Lane: Motorists may expect lane and shoulder closures from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday and Tuesday for striping work and k-rail installation.

Interstate 80 (Placer/Nevada Counties) at various locations from Cisco Grove to Soda Springs: An $11.3 million project to repair and fortify the existing I-80 shoulders and embankments to minimize future maintenance repair and prevent further damage to the existing roadway caused by melting snow and snow plow activities. New concrete gutters are also being installed along the project route.
- - - July 26 – August 1 - Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Cisco Grove to Kingvale: Motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for roadway excavation.
- - - July 26 – August 1 - Interstate 80 (Placer/Nevada Counties) from Kingvale to Soda Springs: Eastbound motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures around the clock from 6 p.m. Sunday through noon Friday for roadway excavation. Westbound motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures around the clock from 8 p.m. Sunday through 7 a.m. Friday.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Farad to Acid Flat Bridge: An $12.9 million Farad Ditch Slope Stabilization project will restore the Farad Ditch by extending the collection area. Construction will also include regrading of the slope by means of roadway excavation, rock excavation, and controlled blasting.
- - - July 27 – July 31 - Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from Farad to Acid Flat Bridge: Westbound motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday for roadway excavation.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Crystal Boulevard/Monitor Road to Post Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday for tree work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Westwood Mobile Home Park to Missouri Flat Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday for utility work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Bradley Drive to Fowler Lane: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday for miscellaneous highway construction work.

State Route 49 (El Dorado/Placer County) at the North Fork American River Bridge: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for bridge joint replacement work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Cambridge Road: Westbound motorists can expect one lane of the off-ramp closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday for tree work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the South Fork American River Bridge to Wildwood Way in Silver Fork: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for drainage work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado/Placer County) from the Placer County Line to Glenridge Drive: Motorists and bicyclists can expect shoulder closures form 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 153 (El Dorado County) from Cold Springs Road to the Junction with State Route 49 in Coloma: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from Penobscot Road to Sliger Mine Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for tree work.

State Route 20 (Nevada County) from the State Route 49 junction at Uren Street to the Interstate 80 junction: Motorists may expect intermittent, one-way traffic control from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday for a striping operation.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from the Yuba-Sierra county line to Yuba Pass Road: Motorists may expect intermittent, reversing one-way traffic control and shoulder closures from 6:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday for ditch cleaning.

State Route 49 (Sierra County) from the Rocky Rest Campground to Ladies Canyon: Motorists may expect intermittent, reversing one-way traffic control and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for bridge work.

State Route 65 (Placer County) at Lincoln Boulevard: Motorists may expect a lane closure on the local surface street with construction signs placed on the northbound SR-65 off-ramp from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Sierra College Boulevard to the Brace Road Overcrossing: Eastbound motorists may expect lane and shoulder closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for a paving operation.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at Penryn Road: Westbound motorists may expect a #4 lane and shoulder closure from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday for guardrail repair.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Penryn Road to the State Route 193 separation: Motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday for vegetation work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the State Route 193 separation: Eastbound motorists may expect a partial ramp closure from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday for traffic signal and utility work.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from the Werner Road Overcrossing to Ophir Road: Eastbound motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for a paving operation.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Bell Road to Dry Creek Road: Eastbound motorists may expect intermittent lane and ramp closures from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for a paving operation.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the Weimar Cross Road Overcrossing: Motorists may expect lane and ramp closures from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for a bridge inspection.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at the Magra Overhead: Motorists may expect #2 lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for a bridge inspection.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Magra to Crystal Springs: Eastbound motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Tuesday for drainage cleaning and guardrail repair.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Yuba Gap to Emigrant Gap: Westbound motorists may expect intermittent lane and shoulder closures from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday for drainage cleaning.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from the chain-on/off areas in Truckee to the State Route 89 separation: Motorists may expect shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, around the clock Wednesday and Thursday, and midnight to 4 p.m. Friday for electrical work.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) from the State Route 89 separation to the chain-on area near Donner Lake Interchange: Westbound motorists may expect intermittent lane and partial ramp closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for a fog seal operation.

Interstate 80 (Nevada County) near the CHP Donner Pass Inspection Facility: Motorists may expect partial ramp and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, around the clock Wednesday and Thursday, and midnight to 4 p.m. Friday for electrical work.

State Route 89 (Sierra County) from Sage Hen Road to Little Truckee River: Motorists may expect intermittent, one-way traffic control and shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday for miscellaneous work.
