Domestic violence situation turns into kidnapping in Douglas County

A 32-year-old Joshua Albericci of Gardnerville has been arrested on multiple charges stemming from his alledged assault and kidnapping of his 29-year-old wife.

Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a domestic dispute in the Gardnerville Ranchos area of the county on April 27, 2016 at 10:45 a.m. When they arrived at the home in the 800 block of Short Court, they learned that the victim had fled to a neighbor's home after being physically assaulted by her husband.

Prior to law enforcement's arrival, Albericci followed his wife, forced her into a vehicle while armed with a firearm.

The vehicle with the couple left in a westbound direction.

DCSO requested assistance from El Dorado Sheriff’s Office, Nevada Highway Patrol, California Highway Patrol, Washoe County Sheriff’s Helicopter – Raven, Federal Bureau of Investigation, US Forest Service and Alpine County Sheriff’s Office in searching for the kidnapped woman, and Joshua who was considered armed and dangerous.

At 12:35 p.m., Alpine County Sheriff’s Office reported they observed a vehicle matching the one being driven by Joshua parked on Blue Lakes Road. Deputies found the victim near the vehicle, safe and unharmed.

Following a short standoff, Joshua Albericci was taken into custody by Alpine County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the El Dorado County Jail. He was charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, possession of an assault weapon, felon in possession of a firearm, destruction or concealment of evidence, obstructing or resisting arrest. His bail has been set at $300,000 and he is currently in the jail in South Lake Tahoe, awaiting extradition to Douglas County.
