LAKE TAHOE, CA/NV - The award-winning documentary "Wilder than Wild: Fire, Forests, and the Future" will be shown at three locations around Lake Tahoe in the coming weeks, starting on Thursday, May 30 in Incline Village.

Wilder Than Wild is a one-hour documentary that reveals how fire suppression and climate change have exposed Western landscapes to large, high-intensity wildfires. The film goes on to explore strategies that are being developed to help mitigate the impact of these fires.

The screening is part of a larger effort to engage communities in conversations about the future of wildfire. A panel featuring North Lake Tahoe Fire Protection District, U.S. Forest Service, Washoe County Emergency Management, Washoe County Sherriff's Office, Washoe County Search & Rescue, and NV Energy will follow the screening.

North Tahoe Fire, Tahoe Network of Fire Adapted Communities, and UC Davis TERC will be hosting the May 30 event starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by the panel discussion at 6:30 p.m. It will be held in Room 139/141 inside the UC Davis Tahoe Science Center located at 291 Country Club Drive in Incline Village (between Tahoe Boulevard/SR 28 and Lakeshore Blvd.) on the campus of Sierra Nevada College.

This event is one of several educational community events planned during the summer months around the Lake Tahoe basin to highlight the importance of building community awareness about mitigation strategies in this new age of wildfire.
