Improv pros at Lake Tahoe Community College for special performance

Event Date:
May 18, 2013 - 7:30pm

The Lake Tahoe Community College Theatre Department’s Random Acts of Improv group welcomes television performers Rick and Laura Hall for a musical improvisational workshop and live performance on Saturday, May 18 in the Duke Theatre.

Laura Hall (musical director for TV’s Whose Line Is It Anyway?) and her actor/musician husband, Rick (HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm), will share their musical improvisation techniques in the workshop from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. They’ll then take the stage at 7:30 p.m. with LTCC’s improvisation group, Random Acts of Improv, for a hilarious night of comedy on the fly!

This family-friendly and fun evening of off-the-cuff comedy promises to be a can’t miss for fans. “I am thrilled to have Laura and Rick join us for our improvisation show!” says Susan Boulanger, Director of Theatre at LTCC, who has been developing the improvisation group for the college. “They are wonderful performers. Getting to work with them onstage is a real treat!”

Laura Hall is perhaps best known as the improvisational pianist on television’s Whose Line Is It Anyway?, which is currently shooting new episodes. Rick has made appearances in a slew of popular television shows, including ER, Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development, among many others.

The Halls’ musical improvisation workshop is tailor-made for those who have always wanted to try improvising comedic songs but were too stage shy to give it a shot. They provide a supportive environment where performers are encouraged to let loose and experiment freely. Participants learn how to build vocal confidence and to listen effectively to other performers and a musical accompanist.
