Black Ice Theatre Co. presents The Pillowman, the winner of two Tony Awards and the Olivier Award for Best Play. It was written by Martin McDonagh, the acclaimed author of In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones added to TEDx lineup in South Lake Tahoe

Pulitzer prize-winning 'night, Mother opens at Duke Theatre in South Lake Tahoe

A new South Lake Tahoe theater company has hit the road running with their production of 'night, Mother, a Pulitzer prize-winning play about the relationship between a mother and daughter. Friday, August 24 is opening night and the play will run at the Lake Tahoe Community College's Duke Theatre for two weekends.

Jessie, the daughter, has moved back home after a divorce and is depressed and is done with life and wants to end hers. Her relationship with mother Thelma is explored during the 90-minute play that is full of drama, dark comedy and emotion.

Lake Tahoe Historical Society holding Chautauqua 2018 in honor of 50th anniversary

Olympian David Wise joins in on inaugural Gift of Literacy event in South Lake Tahoe

"Choose joy, even in hard times," two-time Olympic gold medal winner David Wise told students form the Lake Tahoe Environmental Magnet School on May 25.

Wise had just shared his children's book "Very Bear and The Butterfly" with kindergarten and first grade students from the school who were on the Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) campus for a day of literacy.

It's showtime for South Tahoe Middle School and TAP

Young thespians at South Tahoe Middle School (STMS) have been working since March on Giants in the Sky, a musical and magical story about the world of giants who live in the clouds.

Tahoe Arts Project is presenting the play which is performed by ACT One, a new program for STMS South Tahoe Middle School students that helps fill a void for their hunger for creative expression, given the absence of drama and other arts programming available to students at a critical developmental age.

Fundamental Freedoms art exhibit opening at LTCC

Mayor of South Lake Tahoe Wendy David will officially open the exhibit at 6:30 p.m., followed by an artist’s talk from Zentner. Wine and canapés will be served, and all are welcome to attend.

Directors, actors, designers wanted for Spring Theatre at LTCC

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF. - Calling all directors, actors, and theatrical designers! This Spring, rather than just one theatrical offering, Lake Tahoe Community College’s (LTCC) Duke Theatre will instead be home to four one-act plays helmed by either a student or community director. SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The accreditation team visiting Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) left town Thursday, but not before speaking to a gathering of the school's administration, staff, students, board members and community partners.

"You guys do a great job," said Mike Claire, President at College of San Mateo and leader of the visiting accreditation team from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). "We have never found a college more well prepared than LTCC."

LTCC opens week-long Spanish Institute in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - As Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) opens up their annual Intensive Spanish Summer Institute (ISSI) on Monday, July 31, a special guest will be there as part of the opening ceremony.

Selene Barceló, Consul for Community Affairs at the Consulate General of Mexico in Sacramento, will speak at several of the institute's activities starting at 7:45 a.m. with the opening session at the plaza outside the campus's Roberta Mason Library.

At 9:00 a.m. she moves to the Duke Theatre where she'll make a presentation in Spanish and then in English at 10:00 a.m.

Due to college closures and extreme weather and power outages, Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) has rescheduled auditions for their winter production, Love/Sick until Tuesday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. in LTCC’s Duke Theatre.

Passionate community meeting about future of LTCC Theatre Arts program

A passionate crowd of about 90 people attended the first of at least two public meetings on the future of the Theatre Arts program at Lake Tahoe Community College Tuesday evening.

The one thing everyone could agree on is the importance of having live theatre in South Lake Tahoe, but how that theatre and the program supporting it will look in the future is uncertain. Will it be a community based theatre, or will it continue to be a college run program?

Theater program at LTCC may be discontinued; Room being made for community theater model

With three productions a year, and just seven degrees issued in five years, Lake Tahoe Community College is looking at eliminating their theater program and moving toward a community theater model.

Theater staff at the college were advised on Tuesday that LTCC administration is recommending to the Board of Trustees that they’re recommending discontinuing the theater program.

Over the past 1.5 years, administrators have been going through a process that included research on program vitality at the college.
