Tahoe Trails Summit to discuss the present and future of biking in Lake Tahoe

A free summit in South Lake Tahoe this weekend will bring biking enthusiasts together under one roof for seminars, movies, food and drink. There will also be rides and the showcasing of local trail renaissance during the event which begins on Friday, May 6 and ends with a breakfast and Mother's Day family ride.

The public is invited to attend any, or all, parts of the inaugural Tahoe Trails Summit "Trails of Tahoe Today and Tomorrow" which will be held at the Tahoe Beach Retreat.

Speakers include mountain bike Hall of Famers Scot Nicol (Ibis) and Gary Sjoquist from QBP, Jonathan Cook-Fisher, Garrett Villanueva and Jacob Quinn from the US Forest Service, Heavenly Mountain representative Chris Eckert, TAMBA's Ben Fish and Kevin Joell, City of South Lake Tahoe mayor pro-tem Austin Sass, Town Of Mammoth Council member John Wentworth, World adventurer Chris McNamara, Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship Executive Director Greg Williams and Morgan Fessler, Executive Director of the Tahoe Rim Trail.

Tahoe Area Mountain Bike Association (TAMBA) invites everyone to join them to ride, socialize, participate, learn, and have fun at their first Tahoe Trails Summit. TAMBA is hosting this trail summit to showcase the amazing trail renaissance in Tahoe and discuss the future and have brought together all trail users to gain input and consensus on the future of multi-use trails around beautiful Lake Tahoe. They are hosting this summit in partnership with US Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.

Saturday May 7, 2016
◾7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.: Breakfast in the Tavern, Coffee complimentary
◾8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.: Presentations/Workshops/Panel Discussions, topics include:
◦Success stories, Tahoe and beyond
◦Current threats to multi-use trails
◦Too many trail users?
◦Tourism, economics and trails
◦Engaging tomorrow’s trail stewards
◦Round table workshop – Prioritizing community trail projects.
◾Afternoon showcase ride and Bijou Bike Park tour, skills clinics
◾Evening movie, raffle, party in the Tavern and beach front patio with food and drink specials
