South Shore athletes do well at Nevada State Track & Field Meet

During the first day of the Nevada State High School championships, both South Tahoe and Whittell High School athletes had impressive showings.

STHS sophomore Maya Brosch in the state champ in the 300 meter hurdles for Division 1-A. She ran a time of 45:18.

Whittell sophomore Cole Snyder won the state 1600 meter race for Division 4 schools with by running it in 4:51.53.

The Whittell girl's 4 x 100 relay team of Aisha Ceron, Michelle Barnes, Samantha Forvilly and Lauren George won a state title with a time of 55:24.

South Tahoe freshman Ally Sullivan ran the 3200 meters in 11:49:48, earning her third place in the state for Division 1-A schools.

South Tahoe's Quinn Ritter placed fifth with a jump of 21-08.50 in the long jump. Quinn is a junior.

With one more day of the state meet, South Tahoe boys are currently in 19th and the girls are in 8th. Whittell's girls in 9th and the their boy's team is in 10th.

The meet wraps up in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 16 with a big day for the South Shore athletes.

South Tahoe's Brosch will have a busy day competing in the 100 meter hurdles, the 400 meter dash as well as the 200 meter dash.

Whittell's Snyder will run in the 800 meters and 3200 meters.

Whittell girls will compete in the 4 x 200 meter relay while the boys run in the 4 x 400 meter relay.

Forvilly goes in the 400 meter dash, South Tahoe's corey McCarthy runsmthe 300 meter hurdles, and Ritter competes in the triple jump.
