Prep round-up for the South Shore: Whittell and South Tahoe Highs

The South Tahoe High boy's tennis team continues to dominate Northern Nevada action on the courts and are now preparing to take their 12-0 record to the Nevada state tournament which begins in two weeks. In the meantime, players head to the regional playoffs.

South Tahoe High's varsity football team is now in a three-way tie for second place in Northern Nevada 3A with their 6-1 record. They blanked Dayton during Friday's homecoming game at South Tahoe, 57-0.

STHS is taking their five game winning streak into their October 14 games against Elko, who also has a 6-1 record. Game time at the Viking stadium is 7:00 p.m.

Over at Whittell High School, the Warriors' varsity football team is coming off a 55-0 win over Pyramid Lake, taking their Northern Nevada 4a record to 3-1, just behind league leading Virginia City. who are at 4-0.

Next up for Whittell is Mineral County (4-1). The away game is on October 14 at 7:00 p.m.

STHS Boy's varsity soccer now has a 3-6-1 record after losing Saturday to Sparks, 5-2. Their next game is Monday, October 10 at home against Fernley in non-conference league action.

Over on the girl's side, the Lady Vikings are now second in league with their 8-2 record. They blanked Sparks 5-0 on Saturday, giving them their sixth straight win.

Their next game is also at home on Monday as they too host Fernley at 6:00 p.m.

The South Tahoe High girls volleyball team bounced back from a 3-2 loss at Elko Friday night with a win at Spring Creek, moving their record to 7-3.

Next up for them is a match against Churchill County on October 12 at Churchill County.

The Whittell Warriors girls soccer team leads the Northern Nevada 2A with a record of 5-0-1. They will meet Yerington on Tuesday for an away game.
