Lake Tahoe Community College issued an evacuation order after smoke alarms went off at the campus at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The school issued an "emergency" via Twitter, asking everyone to leave:
Alert: There is an emergency at Lake Tahoe Community College, please evacuate to your nearest evacuation area (see evacuation map).
South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue responded and discovered a burnt ballast in overhead lights. It caused some smoke, prompting the alarms and subsequent evacuation order. Ten minutes after it was issued the campus was declared "all clear" and the order was lifted and everyone was allowed back inside.
LTCC Alert: LTCC has concluded the Evacuation incident. An 'All Clear' condition has been declared, and facilities are now safe to return to.
