New deputy on board for the Douglas County Sheriff's Office

Sheriff Ron Pierini and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office swore in a new deputy on May 21 at the Judicial Center in Minden, Nev.

Deputy Gregorio Marangi took his oath of office in the presence of family and friends, along with many employees of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputy Marangi was raised in Douglas County up until the age of 12, and then his family left the state of Nevada. The family returned to the area Northern Nevada in 2012 and Deputy Marangi served a two year mission for his church in South Carolina. He has completed some coursework and is continuing his studies in Criminal Justice through BYU Idaho. He said his position as a deputy sheriff is a lifelong dream and will work diligently for the public. He had recently worked as casino security in Reno.
