Douglas County Sheriff's deputies graduate from state academy

Two deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office were honored by Sheriff Ron Pierini today for their recent graduation from the State of Nevada Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) Law Enforcement Academy.

Deputies Maciej Stebel and Spencer McLaughlin graduated November 15, 2018 after attending the academy for the past four months.

During the academy, cadets are instructed in such topics as: Federal, State and Local Laws, Laws of Search and Seizure, Laws of Arrest, Community Oriented Policing, Physical Fitness, Use of Force, Defensive Tactics, Handcuffing and Searching, Interpersonal Communication, Interview and Interrogation , Crime Scene Processing, Domestic Battery Investigation, Report Writing, Dispatch and Radio Procedure, Traffic Enforcement, Traffic Accident Investigation, Emergency Vehicle Operations, First Aid and Lifesaving Procedures, and a host of other law enforcement & public safety topics.

Deputy Stebel has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since May 2016, and Deputy McLaughlin has been employed with the Sheriff’s Office since June 2017. Both have been working in the Jail Division since their employment with the sheriff’s office. With their successful completion of the academy, they will now transfer to the Patrol Division.
