10th TOCCATA Tahoe Summer Music Fest: Going for Baroque

Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus kicks off its 10th Summer MusicFest with “Going For Baroque-Summer Solstice Series” June 17 thru 23. The program opens with Vivaldi’s Concerto for Violin and Cello, RV 547, with Natalie and Nick Haines as soloists, and continues with flutist Josue Casillas performing Vivaldi’s Concerto for Flute #428 “Goldfinch”. Other soloists include Yuri Liberzon, guitarist, performing Vivaldi Concerto RV 82, and harpist Marina Roznitovsky performing Vivaldi Concerto #540. The concert concludes with J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 9 Es ist das Heil, featuring Anna Helwing and Joy Strotz, sopranos and Stuart Duke, baritone, with Natalie Haines as concertmaster. Maestro James Rawie will conduct all performances.

The performances are Wednesday June 17, 7:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Sierra Lutheran Church in Carson City (3680 Hwy. 395 South); Friday, June 19, 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Incline Village (341 Village Boulevard); and Sunday, June 21, 3:00 p.m. at St. Theresa Church in South Lake Tahoe (1041 Lyons Ave.). The final performance will be on Tuesday, June 23, 7:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Reno, (501 California Ave.).

Tickets for this series are available at the door or online at www.ToccataTahoe.com. General admission to these concerts is $25 adults, $20 seniors. Preferred seating is $35 and $15 for youth/students. Students with ID under 24 years of age are $5, in non reserved seating, at most regular season concerts in 2015 in whatever seating is available ten minutes prior to concert start time. All performances are supported by the Kling Family Foundation.

Two festive fundraisers will take place also, the first on Saturday, June 20 at 4:00 p.m. at a private home in Cave Rock, and a second fundraiser at a private home in Reno on Saturday, June 27, at 4:00 p.m. Flutist Josue Casillas, Guitarist Yuri Liberzon, and several of TOCCATA’s top vocal soloists and singers from our recent tour to Italy will provide all entertainment. A tax deductible donation of $100/person is requested.

TOCCATA’s 10th Summer MusicFest continues with the celebration of TOCCATA’s 10th Annversary, July 14-21 featuring opera duets and arias, Mozart’s Variations on Twinkle Little Star performed by Josue Casillas and Joy Strotz, Verdi opera choruses, Beethoven’s Fantasy for Piano, Orchestra and Chorus, and finishes with a salute to the 50th anniversary celebration of the Sound of Music.
