Retiring Lake Tahoe Unified teachers and staff honored for 299 years of service

A reception was held Tuesday for those retiring from the Lake Tahoe Unified School District this year. The 11 retirees have worked a total of 299 years in education.

Cynthia Cowen, Teacher – 37 years
Martha Brown, Sr. Accounting Assistant - 33 years

Sandra Moulton, Teacher – 30 years
Norman Nold, Bus Driver/Trainer – 30 yrs
Sydney Brown, Teacher – 29 years
Joan Romero, Sr. Accounting Assistant, Food Service Department - 27 yrs
Steven Hall, Speech Therapist – 27 years
Renee Gorevin, Teacher – 24 years
Francis Fortier, Warehouse Assistant – 24 yrs
Harold "Bob" Comlossy, Teacher – 20 years
Daryl Quandt, Facilities Maintenance Supervisor - 18 yrs

"I knew it was time to retire when three generations were at the bus stop, and I took each one of them to school and back," joked Norman Nold who was a bus driver and trainer for 30 years.

Sandra Moulton recalled how elated she was when she was hired as a teacher. After teaching at the Middle School level for 30 years, she kidded that she was almost as elated driving to the ceremony. "I absolutely loved teaching," said Moulton.

Lake Tahoe Education Foundation President Coleen Shade and LTUSD Board President Barbara Bannar presented the retirees with a rose, certificate, and gift certificate to Sprouts. Jody Dayberry, President of the South Tahoe Educators Association, was also on hand to congratulate the staff.
