Plane flips on runway at Lake Tahoe Airport; No injuries reported

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A Taildragger-style aircraft flipped on the runway at Lake Tahoe Airport Sunday just after the pilot landed.

There were no injuries to the pilot except for some scratches, the only person on board at the time of the incident.

The call came into emergency dispatch at 12:06 p.m.

According to preliminary reports by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, the pilot had landed on the runway at the airport and was attempting to make a right-hand turn off the runway. The pilot said he may have applied the brakes too hard, said South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. Doug Sentell.

FAA and NTSB have been notified and the FAA in Reno will be in South Lake Tahoe Monday to interview the pilot and continue the investigation. There were gusty winds at the time but it is unknown if they played a part until the investigation is complete.

It is unknown at this time where the pilot was from.
