Windy start to the week ahead for South Lake Tahoe, small drop in temps

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A low-pressure system is heading to Lake Tahoe, bringing with it cool, below-average temperatures later in the week, gusty winds, and fire weather concerns. Tuesday to Thursday look to be the windiest days with impacts likely, especially on area lakes according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

Widespread gusts of 30-40 mph are expected Wednesday night.

Warming temperatures will return for next weekend along with continuing dry conditions.

The forecast for South Lake Tahoe from the National Weather Service in Reno:

Monday - Sunny, with a high near 76. South wind 5 to 15 mph.

Monday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 44. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tuesday - Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Breezy, with a south wind 5 to 10 mph increasing to 15 to 20 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph.

Tuesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 40. Southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Wednesday - Sunny, with a high near 68.

Wednesday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Thursday- Sunny, with a high near 66.

Thursday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 35.

Friday - Partly sunny, with a high near 69.

Friday Night - Partly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Saturday - Sunny, with a high near 73.

Saturday Night - Mostly clear, with a low around 41.
