Event Date:
June 29, 2015 - 2:00pm
The family members who own the historic W.D. Barton Ranch Complex located at the "Y" in South Lake Tahoe want to tear it down. The community has been very vocal in recent months about wanting to keep the buildings for the historical value. The Lake Tahoe Historical Society has heard from a group would is interested in buying the property, though it isn't for sale.
The Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Hearings Officer will consider the applicant’s request to tear down the structures located at 1080 Emerald Bay Road in South Lake Tahoe during a special meeting scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday June, 29.
All remaining structures on the site are proposed to be demolished, including two residential structures, one barn/stable, one garage, five out-buildings, and one pump house. Most of the structures were built between 1936 and 1955.
Since the South Lake Tahoe community has been engaged in this project because of its historic nature, the TRPA is encouraging public comment at the meeting, through comment letters, or emails. The Hearing Officer Kim Hern can be reached at khern@trpa.org.
The special Hearings Officer meeting will be held at the TRPA offices at 128 Market Street in Stateline. Agenda and staff summaries are available online at http://www.trpa.org/special-hearings-officer-meeting-agenda-and-staff-summary-june-29-2015/.
